Respect
The first concept requiring personal understanding, adoption and practice is Respect.
Self Respect is the first characteristic that must be ingrained within our psyche for us to have any chance at success in life. We are all persons of Divine creation so how can we not respect ourselves?
Actually low self esteem, or a total absence of self respect, is a primary cause of a whole host of diseases and psychological issues rampant in modern society. Because we don't respect our uniqueness and individuality, we also receive failing marks for not respecting other people and property. This lack of respect is reflected in high rates of crime against property like robbery, carjacking and murder. Such personal issues as bulimia and self mutilation, rape, bullying and suicide also result from low or no self respect.
Religious experts tell us that we must follow The Golden Rule. Christians, Jews and Muslims all list this FIRST among all actions a God (Allah) worshipper MUST TAKE.
This Rule states we must love ourselves and love our neighbors "as ourselves". This love is second only to our love of GOD. All society rules and the regulations that flow from them reflect this concept.
Property crimes, assaults, lust, greed, infidelity to a spouse or other loved one all reflect a breech of this Command.
